A garment protecting apparatus for a vehicle, to be mounted to a lower door sill is described herein. The garment protecting apparatus has an elongated protective element which is reciprocately movable between a retracted position, where it is adjacent to the lower door sill, to an extended position, where it overhangs the lower door sill, therefore preventing garments worn by a person to contact the lower door sill while this person gets in or out of the vehicle.
