An engine for operation on compressed air or a combination of gas and air is described The engine comprises a cylinder block having a plurality of individual cylinders, each of the cylinders containing a piston. The piston divides the cylinder into an upper and lower chamber, each of the upper and lower chambers being provided with an intake and an exhaust valve. The piston is connected to one end of a piston rod extending outward of the lower end of the cylinder, the second end of the piston rod being provided with rollers riding within an track having an upper and lower surface attached to a drive mechanism. The track has the shape of the circumference of slightly offset overlapping circles of equal diameter. The action of injecting air into the intake valves of the chambers causes the piston to be driven in the direction of the chamber opposite the open intake valve and transfers the power from the reciprocating piston through the piston rod to the track causing the track and its attached drive mechanism to be rotated.
