Gas blanketing management system (10) includes a stored media sensor (32) adapted to sense a storage tank media parameter which responsively generates a stored media signal, a blanker gas sensor (34) adapted to sense a storage tank blanket gas parameter which responsively generates a blanket gas signal, and a blanket gas flow sensor (44, 46) adapted to sense the flow of blanket gas which responsively generates a blanket gas flow signal. The storage tank system further includes a controller unit (36) adapted to receive at least one of the media signal and the blanket gas signal, and the blanket gas flow signal, and responsively generates a blanket gas leak indicator signal.
