A gas catalytic heater having an improved temperature distribution is disclosed which includes a body (10) having an open end in which is disposed a porous catalytically active layer (17) containing a catalyst such as platinum metal. A sealed plenum chamber (18) is disposed below the catalytically active layer (17) and has a gas-permeable wall portion (19) facing toward the active layer (17) and a gas inlet orifice (22) for introducing a fuel gas into the chamber (18). The gas- permeable wall portion may comprise a perforated metal plate having a plurality of tiny apertures (21) the total open area of which is significantly less than that provided by perforated plates used in catalytic heaters of the prior art.
L'invention concerne un appareil de chauffage à catalyse, à répartition de température améliorée. Ledit appareil comprend un corps (10) ayant une extrémité ouverte dans laquelle est placée une couche poreuse (17) à action catalytique, contenant un catalyseur comme du platinide. Une chambre de distribution (18) fermée hermétiquement est placée au-dessous de la couche (17) à action catalytique et comprend une partie de paroi (19) perméable aux gaz, faisant face à la couche active (17) et à un orifice d'entrée de gaz (22) pour l'introduction d'un gaz combustible dans la chambre (18). La partie de paroi perméable aux gaz peut comporter une plaque métallique perforée ayant plusieurs petites ouvertures (21), la surface ouverte totale de celle-ci étant sensiblement inférieure à celle des plaques perforées utilisées dans les appareils de chauffage catalytique de la technique antérieure.
