A gas combustion type hammering tool in which when a movable sleeve (11) on a cylinder is moved upward, a closed combustion chamber (5) is formed, and a fuel mixture is explosively burned in the combustion chamber (5) to drive out a fastener. A lock cylinder (22) is disposed on the lower part of the movable sleeve (11). A lock piston (23) is vertically movably stored in the lock cylinder (22). The upper end of the lock piston (23) is engageable with a holding member (12) interlocking with the movable sleeve (11). The lower part of the lock cylinder is allowed to communicate with the combustion chamber through a gas pipeline (24). A check valve (25) is installed in the gas pipeline (24). A solenoid valve (27) is fitted to the lock cylinder (22). After a specified time is passed after the combustion is completed in the combustion chamber, the solenoid valve (27) is opened.
