A gas discharge apparatus (100) with a cylindrical axis, comprising: at least one pair of electrodes (106, 110); a cylindrical outer tube (114), surrounding the axis; a cylindrical inner tube (102) surrounding the axis; and a gas contained between said inner tube (102) and said outer tube (104), of suitable composition and pressure to create a gas discharge current when sufficient voltage is applied to said electrodes (106, 110), wherein no discharge is present inside the inner tube (102) during operation.

L'invention concerne un appareil à décharge gazeuse (100) présentant un axe cylindrique. L'appareil selon l'invention comprend: au moins une paire d'électrodes (106, 110); un tube extérieur cylindrique (104) entourant l'axe; un tube intérieur cylindrique (102) entourant l'axe; et un gaz contenu entre ledit tube intérieur (102) et ledit tube extérieur (104). La composition et la pression de ce gaz créent un courant de décharge gazeuse lorsqu'une tension suffisante est appliquée sur lesdites électrodes (106, 110), aucune décharge n'étant présente à l'intérieur du tube intérieur (102) pendant le fonctionnement.
