An artificial lift system for use in a wellbore having at least one chamber (122) with an inlet (142) and an outlet (144), a power gas string (130, 146) connected to the chamber (122), a liquid string (148, 150, 128) connected to the outlet (144) of the chamber (122), a vent (134, 132, 146) connected to the chamber (122) for selectively allowing a gas to pass outwardly of the chamber, a compressor connected to the power gas string (130, 146) for passing pressurized gas into the power gas string (130, 146), and a valve (140) connected to the power gas string (130, 146) and the chamber (122). The valve (140) selectively allows the pressurized gas to enter the chamber (122) so as to cause any liquid in the chamber (122) to pass through the outlet (144) and into the liquid string (148, 150, 128) such that the liquid extends continuously along the liquid string (148, 150, 128) along the entire length of the string (148, 150, 128).
