A garment (1) for cooling the body of a wearer is described which comprises a substantially gas impermeable first substrate (2) and a gas- permeable second substrate (3) attached to form a cavity. At least one spacer element (30) is provided between the first and second substrates to maintain gas flow in regions likely to be subjected to compression, e.g. by the body of a wear. At least one of the first and second substrates preferably comprises a plurality of raised protrusions on a surface within the cavity, and the gas permeable second substrate comprises a plurality of raised protrusions (4) on the surface external to the cavity and proximate to the body of the wearer. The cavity is adapted to be connected to a gas supply (6-9) such that the gas flows into the cavity and exits the cavity through the gas permeable second substrate. The cooling garment is light weight and conformable, and may be non- tethered for portability.
L'invention concerne un vêtement (1) destiné à refroidir le corps d'un utilisateur et comportant un premier substrat (2) sensiblement imperméable aux gaz et un deuxième substrat (3) perméable aux gaz, fixés de façon à former une cavité. Au moins un élément (30) d'entretoise est placé entre les premier et deuxième substrats pour maintenir un écoulement de gaz dans les régions susceptibles d'être soumises à la compression, par ex. par le corps de l'utilisateur.
