The invention relates to a gas shuttle valve for an internal combustion engine comprising a valve cone which substantially consists of a valve shaft projected in a valve disc in such a way that a hollow cone is formed. The valve cone or at least the shaft thereof is made of a typical valve steel consisting of a nitride forming base alloy up to the hollow cone area. The aim of said invention is to improve said gas shuttle valve in such a way that even the parts made of the typical valve steel exhibit a good anti-corrosive protection. For this purpose, the valve cone is provided at least partial area with an anti-corrosive layer in the form of a nitride layer, which is produced by the nitride forming base alloy conversion by plasma nitriding or plasma nitrocarburising in a nitrogenous atmosphere.
La présente invention concerne une soupape d'échange des gaz d'un moteur à combustion interne comprenant un cône de soupape qui est principalement constitué d'une tige de soupape faisant saillie dans un disque de soupape en formant un cône creux. Le cône de soupape ou au moins la tige de soupape est constitué d'un acier pour soupape typique formé d'un alliage de base producteur de nitrure, jusque dans la zone du cône creux. L'objectif de la présente invention est d'améliorer une telle soupape d'échange des gaz de manière que même ses parties qui sont constituées d'un acier pour soupape typique présentent une bonne protection anticorrosion. A cette fin, le cône de soupape est pourvu, au moins dans des zones partielles, d'une couche de protection anticorrosion se présentant sous forme d'une couche de nitrure. Cette couche de protection anticorrosion est produite en transformant l'alliage de base producteur de nitrure par nitruration au plasma ou nitrocarburation au plasma dans une atmosphère azotée.
