ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A process for the preparation of a frost resistant concrete or mortar, comprises adding spheres of a synthetic polymer to a fresh concrete or mortar mix, the spheres containing entrapped gas, the dimensions of the spheres being in the range of about 10 to 100 µm and the spheres being added to the concrete or mortar mix in an amount in the range of 0.01 to 0.1% by weight, calculated on the dry cement weight, and subsequently allowing the mix to cure, the synthetic polymer being inert under the curing conditions.
