A gas delivery apparatus used in gas-assisted electrocoagulation temporarily reduces a gas flow rate in a flowpath to an application which applies the flow of gas and electrical energy to the tissue during an arc initiation sequence. The reduced gas flow rate enhances the arc initiation capabilities and reduces the possibilities of embolism. After the arc initiation sequence is complete, the gas flow rate returns to a greater rate used during electrocoagulation. The back pressure in the flowpath and a user requested flow rate are control variables used to reduce the flow rate upon the occurrence of back pressure-related conditions and to increase the flow rate after the dissipation of those back pressure conditions.

Cet appareil de distribution de gaz, utilisé dans le cadre d'une électrocoagulation à assistance gazeuse, permet de ralentir temporairement le débit gazeux dans un circuit d'écoulement menant à un dispositif d'application de gaz et d'énergie électrique sur un tissu lors d'une séquence de déclenchement d'arc. Le fait de ralentir le débit gazeux améliore les capacités de déclenchement d'arc et diminue les risques d'embolie. Une fois le déclenchement d'arc effectué, le débit gazeux s'accélère pour revenir au niveau utilisé pendant l'électrocoagulation. La contre-pression dans le circuit d'écoulement et le débit requis par l'utilisateur sont des variables de commande employées pour ralentir le débit gazeux en cas de survenue de conditions liées à la contre-pression et pour accélérer ce débit après disparition des conditions liées à la contre-pression.
