A gas flushing brick with a gas-impermeable, refractory outer portion, a gas-permeable, refractory inner portion arranged therein and a gas distribution space is to be improved as regards the construction of the gas distribution space. The gas distribution space has at the end face of the outer portion a free opening, around which a sealing surface extends. A reusable locking member with a gas connection pipe may be sealingly placed against the end face.
