A method and apparatus for liberating gas from gas hydrates including the use of a device, provided adjacent to or in the bulk gas hydrates (12), for exposing the gas hydrates to heat from a gas or liquid (preferably steam). The gas hydrates can be directly exposed to the gas or liquid or indirectly exposed through a thermally conductive coil or channel (16). The heat from the liquid or gas dissociates the gas hydrates into the corresponding gas component and water. After liberation, the gas component can be collected for further storage, transport, or use. The apparatus further includes a mechanism (32) for moving at least a portion of the gas or liquid through the device for exposing the gas hydrates to heat. The device can also be movable, so it can be maintained in close proximity to or in contact with the gas hydrates for continued hydrate gassification.
L'invention concerne un procédé et un appareil permettant de libérer du gaz des hydrates de gaz à faible coût ainsi que l'utilisation d'un dispositif, placé à côté ou dans les hydrates de gaz en vrac (12), afin d'exposer les hydrates de gaz à la chaleur émanant d'un gaz ou d'un liquide (de préférence de la vapeur). Les hydrates de gaz peuvent être directement exposés au gaz ou au liquide ou indirectement exposés par une bobine thermiquement conductrice ou un canal (16). La chaleur émanant du gaz ou du liquide dissocie les hydrates de gaz en produisant le gaz correspondant et de l'eau. Après libération, le composant gaz peut être recueilli pour être ultérieurement stocké, transporté ou utilisé. L'appareil comprend également un mécanisme (32) permettant de déplacer au moins une partie du gaz ou du liquide à l'intérieur du dispositif afin d'exposer les hydrates de gaz à la chaleur. Le dispositif peut également être déplacé de telle manière qu'il puisse être gardé à proximité immédiate des hydrates de gaz ou à leur contact pour une gazéification continue d'hydrates.
