The gas-insulated cable (1) has a cylindrically symmetrically constructed, high-voltage electrical conductor (4), a pressure tube (3) filled with insulating gas, and a supporting insulator (2) which holds the electrical conductor (4) centrally in the pressure tube (3). The supporting insulator (2) is formed by at least one insulating conduit (5'') which is axially guided or wound in the shape of a helix and which rests on the inner surface of the pressure tube (3) with a part of its lateral surface, and rests on the lateral surface of the electrical conductor (4) with another part of its lateral surface. Such a gas-insulated cable is easy to produce and, in the region of the triple point, has relatively low peaks of the electric field prevailing during operation of the gas-insulated cable (1).
