ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A gas-insulated transformer having an iron core and winding which are housed in a sealed metallic housing equipped with cooling ribs in such a manner that provides sufficient heat elimination without a forced ventilation of the gaseous insulating medium. The housing comprises a bottom, a circumferential wall closely connected with the bottom and a gastight mounted cover. Cooling ribs are provided on the interior side as well as on the exterior side of the cover.
