Abstract of the Disclosure The invention is directed to a gas-operated appli- ance for personal use, with a jet pump (10) and a small burner, in which a gaseous fuel (58) is intermixed with air (60) by means of the jet pump (10) and the resulting fuel/air mixture (62) is burned, in which the fuel (58) flows through a throttle (34) of adjustable gap width provided at the upstream end of a valve member (14), with a motive fluid nozzle (38) being arranged at the down- stream end of the valve member (14) for producing a free jet, and with a collecting nozzle body (44) disposed downstream of the motive fluid nozzle (38), wherein an upstream end wall (46) of the collecting nozzle body (44) and a downstream end wall (40) of the valve member (14) provide a further throttle (54) of adjustable gap width through which the air (60) entrained by the free jet is allowed to flow. This arrangement makes it possible to vary the fuel/air mixture (62) in dependence upon the individual operating condition of the appliance. (FIG. 2)
