ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The present invention provides a gas pressure spring having an outer tube which is tapered at one of its ends and for safety purposes has an annular body comprising at least two parts that are seperably joined, the annular body being clamped into position in the area of a side adjustment-lever insertion opening of the tapered end area of the outer tube and having on its inner side a restriction in diameter that is matched to the transition area to the tapered area, and having in one of its parts an opening for the adjuster lever.
