Abstract A process for recovery of ethane and heavier hydro- carbons from natural gas containing primarily methane and ethane with heavier hydrocarbons and carbon dioxide wherein two rectifying sections, each with a reflux stream, are utilized in the demethanizer column. The top recti- fying section is refluxed by a part of the residue gas which is condensed and recycled and the lower rectifying section by subcooled liquid condensed from the feed gas.
