Gas-scrubbing apparatus comprises a scrubbing tank including a bed of material for counter-current contact of gas and liquid, having a lower gas inlet and an upper outlet for scrubbed gas, an upper inlet for liquid, e.g. as a spray, and a lower liquid outlet, the apparatus further comprising a reservoir tank for receiving liquid from the liquid outlet, means for pumping liquid in the reservoir to the spray inlet, the reservoir tank also having a liquid supply inlet and a drain.
