Abstract of the Disclosure A gas sensor comprising an electrode having a predetermined pattern and made of a conductive material, a gas sensing layer formed of a semiconductor and covering a surface of at least a portion of the electrode in close contact therewith, and two electric wires respectively connected to ends of the electrode, the material being of a specific resistance such that the electrode is heated when supplied with a current, a conductance of the semiconductor being changeable when a gas is adsorbed by the semiconductor, wherein the electrode heats the gas sensing layer to a predetermined predetermined temperature when supplied with a current under a predetermined voltage.
