A gas separation device for separating a reactive gas from a gaseous mixture comprising porous anode and cathode electrodes separated by an ionic membrane, the anode being impregnated with an absorbent compound or solvent; the cathode being impregnated with an electrically conductive liquid; a power supply for supplying electric charge to the electrodes; an inlet for a gaseous mixture the inlet communicating with a chamber adjacent the cathode; and an outlet for gas from the chamber so that gas passing from the inlet to the outlet contacts the cathode, wherein reactive gas is absorbed from the gaseous mixture by the absorbent compound and retained in the device and wherein the retained gas subsequently desorbed from the absorbent compound; wherein the absorption, desorption or both are promoted by application of electric charge to the electrodes.
L~invention concerne un dispositif de séparation de gaz permettant de séparer un gaz réactif d~un mélange gazeux comprenant des électrodes d~anode et de cathode poreuses séparées par une membrane ionique, l~anode étant imprégnée d~un solvant ou composé absorbant, la cathode étant imprégnée d~un liquide électriquement conducteur; une alimentation fournissant une charge électrique aux électrodes; une entrée pour le mélange gazeux, l~entrée communiquant avec une chambre adjacente à la cathode; et une sortie pour le gaz de la chambre pour que le gaz passant de l~entrée à la sortie vienne au contact de la cathode, le gaz réactif étant absorbé à partir du mélange gazeux par le composé absorbant et étant retenu dans le dispositif et le gaz retenu étant ensuite désorbé du composé absorbant ; et l~absorption, la désorption ou les deux étant promues par application d~une charge électrique aux électrodes.
