A method of operating an electrolytic cell including the steps of: disposing sparging elements in electrolyte in the cell, the elements having a multiplicity of surface pores or openings therein; and supplying sparging gas to the elements such that the elements form a multiplicity of fine sparging gas bubbles in the electrolyte.

L'invention concerne un procédé destiné à activer une cellule électrolytique et consistant à disposer des éléments de barbotage dans l'électrolyte de la cellule, ces éléments comportant une pluralité de pores ou d'ouvertures de surface, puis à acheminer un gaz de barbotage vers ces éléments de sorte que lesdits éléments forment une pluralité de fines bulles de gaz de barbotage dans l'électrolyte.
