A gas-tight seal module (6) is in- corporated in a trocar system to form a gas-tight seal about an instrument (12) inserted into the cannula of the tro- car system. The module (6) incorpo- rates an apertured disc (30). The aper- ture in the disc can be stretched to ac- commodate a seal about an instrument (12) inserted into the cannula. The disc is carried by a flaccid membrane (20) which extends across the module (6). A pair of rigid washers (32 and 34) clamped on opposite sides of the disc (6) are constrained for movement be- tween two parallel spaced surfaces. The disc is thus freely moveable in its own plane to accommodate off-axis move- ment of the instrument so avoiding the breakage of the seal with the instru- ment which would otherwise occur if the disc did not have the same freedom of movement. The disc (30) also acts to clean the surface of the instrument when withdrawn so as to avoid contam- ination of a flap valve (10) upstream of the disc (30).
Un module de fermeture étanche aux gaz (6) est incorporé dans un trocart pour former une fermeture étanche aux gaz autour d'un instrument (12) inséré dans la canule de ce trocart. Le module (6) comporte un disque étanche (30) dont l'échancrure peut être élargie pour laisser passer une fermeture placée autour d'un instrument (12) inséré dans la canule. Ce disque est supporté par une membrane flasque (20) qui traverse le module (6). Une paire de rondelles rigides (32, 34) serrées sur les côtés opposés du disque (6) est limitée à un déplacement entre deux surfaces séparées parallèles. Le disque peut ainsi se déplacer librement dans son propre plan pour tenir compte d'un déplacement de l'instrument hors de son axe et éviter ainsi que cet instrument rompe la fermeture, ce qui arriverait si ce disque ne disposait pas de la même marge de déplacement. Le disque (30) sert aussi à nettoyer la surface de l'instrument lors du retrait de celui-ci, ce qui évite la contamination d'une soupape à clapet (10) disposée en amont de ce disque (30).
