ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE It is known that centrifugal compressors may be driven at high shaft speeds through use of gear trains interposed between the compressor and the prime mover. In this invention a high speed centrifugal compressor is driven through direct close coupling of the centrifugal compressor's input shaft with the output shaft of a two shaft gas turbine engine. The discharge casing of the gas turbine engine is center line mounted to pro- vide for free and uniform expansion of the casing under heat stresses.
