GAS TURBINE ENGINE INTERNAL INSULATION A B S T R A C T The invention is concerned with an improvement in a modular gas turbine engine assembly comprising a tubular case, a gasifier module detachably attachable with a first end thereof adjacent a first end of said case and a power output module detachably attachable with a first end thereof adjacent a second end of said case, said case and said modules defining a partially walled off combustion-ducting section within said engine. The improvement comprises a plurality of individually replaceable insulation packs which provide heat insulation between the combustion-ducting section walls and each of said case, said gasifier module and said power output module. In another sense the invention comprises an improved individually replace- able insulation pack comprising a high temperature resistant metallic sheet having a porous insulation blanket and including a fine mesh of wire covering the surface of the blanket which is not adjacent to the sheet and holding the blanket against the sheet.
