ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A method of determining the power which may be produc- ed by a gas turbine engine is described in which the engine has a compressor and power turbine and is instrumented to provide signals commensurate with a plurality of operating parameters and limits. The method determines the maximum parmissible engine gas generator speed for the existing engine inlet conditions, corrects the maximum permissible gas generator speed for deviation in performance of the engine from a predetermined normal, employs the corrected maximum permissible speed to determine the maximum torque which can be produced for the existing inlet conditions; and compares the determined torque with the engine torque limit to ascertain the maximum obtainable torque.
