The high intracellular water content contained within the cell walls of the bacterial cells of a dewatered biosludge is reduced by removing the intracellular water in a denaturing operation. This operation comprises heating the biosludge (2) at a temperature (4) sufficient to weaken the bacterial cell walls. The weakened cell walls are then exposed to a reduced pressure (g) sufficient to form vapor within the cell and to thus rupture the weakened cell walls and thereby release the intracellular water. The water-reduced concentrated biosludge (24) can then serve as a fuel source in a partial oxidation reaction for the production of synthesis gas.
L'invention concerne un procédé visant à réduire la quantité élevée d'eau intracellulaire contenue par les parois cellulaires de cellules bactériennes d'une boue biologique déshydratée, par élimination de l'eau intracellulaire au cours d'une opération de dénaturation. Cette opération comporte les étapes consistant à chauffer la boue biologique (2) à une température (4) suffisante pour affaiblir les parois cellulaires bactériennes ; exposer ensuite les parois cellulaires affaiblies à une pression réduite (8) suffisante pour former de la vapeur à l'intérieur de la cellule, rompre ainsi les parois cellulaires affaiblies et permettre de libérer l'eau intracellulaire. La boue biologique concentrée à teneur réduite en eau (24) peut ensuite servir de source de combustible dans une réaction d'oxydation partielle en vue de la production de gaz de synthèse.
