An apparatus (10) for manufacturing a large-diameter gasket, in which a pair of holding presses (50, 66) have press members (58, 74) which selectively bear against an elongate band (16) while a bending press (90) pivots against a portion of the band. A drive press (20) bears against a portion of the band (16), and with the holding presses (50, 66) released, moves longitudinally to move a next portion of the band (16) into the bending press (90). A method of manufacturing the large-diameter gasket is disclosed, together with a jig (140) for applying a patch of sealing material to a joint (184) formed between opposing distal ends (178,180) of the gasket (170).
L'invention concerne un appareil permettant de fabriquer un joint de grand diamètre, comprenant une paire de presses de maintien (50, 66) pourvues d'éléments de pressage (58, 74) qui s'appliquent sélectivement contre une bande allongée (16), pendant qu'une presse de cintrage (90) pivote autour d'une partie de la bande.
