ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A gasket includes a body formed from a resilent gasket material having a plurality of bolt apertures formed therethrough. Within each of the bolt apertures, a compressible insert is disposed. The inserts are generally annular in shape, either continuous or split, and are formed from a relatively soft material having a hardness in the range of from 15RB to 75RB. The thickness of each insert is preferably equal to or slightly less than the thickness of the gasket body. The inserts may be connected to the gasket body by a plurality of discrete spaced apart drops of elastomeric or adhesive material. Alternatively, a continuous bead of such material may be used to retain the inserts within the apertures. The inserts may also be retained within the apertures by a flange which encircles the inserts and engages the top and bottom surfaces of the gasket. Lastly, if the inserts are split, they may be formed having a relaxed outer diameter which is larger than the inner diameter of the aperture so as to be frictionally retained therein.
