GASKET WINDING MACHINE ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Apparatus for manufacturing spirally wound gaskets in which the gaskets have a progressively wound, v-shaped metal strip, with strip of filler material sandwiched between adjacent layers of strip. Apparatus includes two co-planar forming discs defining a nip therebetween, the nip receiving gasket forming material so as to wind material around one disc. At least one guide member for the material is located on each side of at least one of the discs and is mounted independently thereof. At least one forming disc is movable radially relative to the other. In one embodiment, forming material is wound into a loop of one disc so that such disc acts as temporary core for gasket. This permits forming of relatively large, non- circular and wide gaskets without collapse during manufacture
