A spirally wound gasket is described. The gasket includes a sealing strip (11) wound into a spiral and a support strip (10) wound into a spiral in such a manner that the spiral of the sealing strip is formed interposed between the coils of the supporting strip. The sealing strip comprises a resilient material, the resilient material comprising a CEV component in a proportion of at least 25% w/w of the sealing strip. The CEV component is at least partially derived from dry CEV, and the sealing strip does not include a carrier strip in one aspect. In another aspect, the CEV component is at least partially derived from dry CEV, and the sealing strip has a moisture level of between 3- 20% w/w of the sealing strip resilient material during winding into the said gasket. A method of producing a sealing strip is also described.
L'invention concerne un joint d'étanchéité statique spiralé qui comporte une bande d'étanchéité (11) enroulée en spirale et une bande support (10) enroulée en spirale de façon que la spirale de la bande d'étanchéité soit formée entre les spires de la bande support. La bande d'étanchéité est composée d'un matériau élastique, lequel comprend un composant en vermiculite expansée par voie chimique, CEV, dans une proportion de 25 % en poids de la bande d'étanchéité. Le composant CEV est au moins partiellement dérivé d'une CEV sèche, et le joint d'étanchéité ne comporte pas de bande porteuse dans un mode de réalisation. Dans un autre mode de réalisation, il est au moins partiellement dérivé d'une CEV sèche, et la bande d'étanchéité présente un niveau d'étanchéité se situant entre 3 et 20 % en poids du matériau élastique de la bande d'étanchéité lors de l'enroulement dans ledit joint d'étanchéité. L'invention traite également d'un procédé de fabrication d'une bande d'étanchéité.
