A device for the removal of a gastrostomy feeding tube secured to the inner wall of a stomach by retention means having at least one resilient, radially-extending member, the device comprising an elongate, rigid tubular member the proximal section of which tapers in a proximal direction and the maximum diameter of which section being at least as great as that of a cylindrical, semi-rigid sheath surrounding and slidably movable on the tubular member, the tubular member being adapted to receive a gastrostomy feeding tube and the cylindrical sheath being adapted to be pushed in a proximal direction over the tapering section to collapse and enclose the retention member.
