GATE HINGE CONSTRUCTION ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Gates, such as farm gates, cattle gates and the like often sag after being installed for some considerable time, the ground below the gate changes level, or ground movement occurs all of which require repositioning of the gate relative to the hinge post so that the requisite clearance between the bottom of the gate and the ground is maintained. Convention- ally the post hinge components are secured through apertures bored through the post and considerable time and effort is re- quired to alter or adjust the relative position of the hinge components with the post. The present device is secured around the post and is firmly and securely anchored to the post when tightened. It can easily be loosened and moved upwardly or downwardly relative to the post for adjustment purposes. Each hinge assembly includes a front post engaging component to which the gate may be hingedly secured, and a rear tightening and clamping component with a chain extending around the post and the front post component and being adjustably tightened by the rear component to clamp the front component firmly and securely in position. The hinge construction also facilitates initial installation of the hinges for the gate as no drilling of the hinge post is required.
