"GATE LATCH ASSEMBLY" ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A gate latch assembly includes a cross shaft through the free vertical edge of the gate having a combination handle and latch plate engaging component on each end thereof. The latch plate is secured transverse- ly of the post into which the vertical edge of the gate engages when closed and the components engage the up- standing latch retainers at each end of the plate. The latch assembly is operable from each side of the gate and normally holds the latch retainers by gravity when in the closed position.
