GATE VALVE A B S T R A C T A gate valve used in pipeline transfer operations comprises a housing having a passage for conveying a fluid medium carrying solid particles, and a gate which is connected to a drive shaft for opening and closing the passage through an articulating joint made up of two elements. The first element of this joint is rigidly connected to the shaft and arranged with a clearance relative to the gate. The second element is rigidly connected to the gate and disposed with a clearance relative to the first element. Slots are provided in one of these elements to communicate the clearances with the passage for evacuating solids therefrom. The gate valve ensures tight closing of the passage by the gate and has a long service life.
