The gear control unit being equipped with an electronic control unit in communication with a signal source for transmitting and receiving signals for the purpose of providing information with respect to the operating state of the motor. A strategy input device is in communication with the electronic control unit and functions for the purpose of selecting between at least a first shift and a second shift strategy corresponding to a high-load operation. The electronic control unit is equipped to be able to select the actuator for selection of the gear ratio based on the received signals.
