ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A means for shifting, semi- or fully automatically, multi-stage gear boxes having mechanical synchronization, more particularly for automotive vehicles, comprising an electric/electronic control part, whereby gear shifting may be effected manually, by means of a control unit, or automatically by purely electrical controlling or actuating means or by actuating pistons, control valves or solenoid valves for the movement of transmission and clutch parts which are displaced during a gear shift, it being possible for the driver to preselect automatic or manual servo shifting, whereby in automatic operation, the manual gear shift lever follows the manual shift according to a double H gear shift pattern, and whereby the control unit also comprises a programming switch for automatic operation and an electronic switch or pilot valve for shifting to a fast or slow split group. This allows the driver to engage, at any time, for example automatic gear shifting or to change at any time from manual shifting to automatic shifting.
