ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A two-speed gear box, with hydraulic actuation of the speed changing operation under load, for hydrostatically driven equipment, more particularly, caterpillar track excavators, the gear box having a planetary transmission comprising double planetary gears, and multiple discs arranged coaxially with the axis of the sun gear of the planetary transmission and acting as a clutch and brake, characterized in that the planet carrier of the planetary transmission is in the form of a flywheel; in that the gear box stage used in starting the piece of equipment is engaged by means of compression springs; and in that the spring loaded parking brake connects the clutch and the brake to the housing in such a manner that they do not rotate in relation thereto.
