ABSTRACT A year wheel, suitable for locking to a shaft by hydraulic expansion of the latter, has at least one sheet metal disc portion having a cylindrical hub portion for reception on the shaft, a gear ring supported by the disc portion or portions, and a retainer ring surrounding the or each hub portion and having a yield strength higher than that of the associated hub portion. When the shaft is expanded, the or each retainer ring clamps the associated hub to the shaft.
