This invention describes a novel method of producing bioactive recombinant proteins from plants. General methods of designing and engineering plants for expression and production of such proteins are also disclosed. Methods for the expression of Transforming Growth Factor-B (TGF-B) proteins, such as Müllerian Inhibiting Substance (MIS), in plants, and methods of producing recombinant proteins from plants are specifically disclosed. Furthermore, the present invention provides methodology for the direct expression and production of a bioactive C-terminal fragment of a TGF-B protein, such as C-terminal MIS. The new method is more cost-effective than other large-scale expression systems, by eliminating the need for costly cell culture and fermentation manufacturing facilities.
L'invention concerne un nouveau procédé de production de protéines recombinantes bioactives à partir de végétaux. L'invention concerne également des procédés généraux de conception et d'ingénierie de végétaux, aux fins d'expression et de production de telles protéines. L'invention concerne en particulier des procédés destinés à l'expression de protéines TGF-B (facteur de croissance transformant bêta), telles qu'une substance inhibitrice müllerienne (MIS), dans des végétaux, ainsi que des procédés de production de protéines recombinantes issues de végétaux. De plus, l'invention concerne une méthodologie destinée à l'expression et à la production directes d'un fragment à terminaison C bioactif d'une protéine TGF-B, telle que MIS à terminaison C. Le nouveau procédé est plus rentable que d'autres systèmes d'expression à grande échelle, car il ne nécessite pas de culture cellulaire et d'installations de fabrication de fermentation onéreuses.
