ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE In general, vehicle racks carried over the trunks of automobiles are designed for a single purpose, e.g. to carry skis or to carry bicycles. A relatively simple, easily assembled multi-purpose vehicle rack includes a pair of generally U-shaped frames, a first of which is mounted in inverted position on the rear of an automobile and the second of which is pivotally connected to the top of the first frame, and diagonal braces extending from beneath the top of the first frame to at least one side of the second frame for maintaining the latter in an article supporting position.
