A method and apparatus are disclosed for generating a display image including a map view and linepiece information for example legible text and/or characters (e.g. alphanumeric) such as road names superposed on the map view. The technique selects linepieces that are easy to read, by (i) selecting from a first subset (44, 50) of alphanumeric linepieces associated with information on the map, a second sub-set (44) of said alphanumeric linepieces satisfying predetermined criteria including display angle; and (ii) including in said display image said second sub-set of alphanumeric linepieces. The first sub-set may be selected according to distance criteria.
L'invention concerne un procédé et un appareil permettant de générer une image d'affichage comprenant une vue cartographique et des informations de morceau de ligne, par exemple, du texte et/ou des caractères lisibles (par exemple, alphanumériques), tels que des noms de rues superposés sur la vue cartographique. La technique sélectionne des morceaux de ligne qui sont faciles à lire, par (i) sélection, à partir d'un premier sous-ensemble (44, 50) desdits morceaux de ligne alphanumériques associés à des informations sur la carte, d'un second sous-ensemble (44) des morceaux de ligne alphanumériques satisfaisant des critères prédéterminés comprenant un angle d'affichage; (ii) par introduction dans ladite image d'affichage dudit second sous-ensemble de morceaux de ligne alphanumériques.
