A method for generating subtitles for audiovisual material received and analyses a text file containing dialogue spoken in audiovisual material and provides a signal representative of the text. The text information and audio signal are aligned in time using time alignment speech recognition and the text and timing information are then output to a subtitle file. Colours can be assigned to different speakers or groups of speakers. Subtitles are derived by receiving and analysing a text file containing dialogue spoken by considering each word in turn and the next information signal, assigning a score to each subtitle in a plurality of different possible subtitle formatting options which lead to that word. The steps are then repeated until all the words in the text information signal have been used and the subtitle formatting option which gives the best overall score is then derived.
L'invention concerne un procédé de production de sous-titres pour matériel audiovisuel, qui comporte les étapes consistant à : recevoir et analyser un fichier texte contenant des dialogues oraux dans du matériel audiovisuel, et fournir un signal représentant le texte. Les données de texte et le signal audio sont synchronisés au moyen d'une reconnaissance vocale avec synchronisation, et ensuite transférés vers un fichier de sous-titres. Des couleurs peuvent être attribuées aux différents locuteurs ou groupes de locuteurs. Les étapes permettant de produire des sous-titres consistent à : recevoir et analyser un fichier texte contenant des dialogues oraux en considérant chaque mot tour à tour ainsi que le signal de données suivant, attribuer un résultat à chaque sous-titre dans une pluralité d'options possibles différentes de formatage de sous-titres conduisant à ce mot. Ces étapes sont ensuite répétées jusqu'à ce que tous les mots du signal de données de texte aient été utilisés, et obtention d'une option de formatage de sous-titres donnant le meilleur résultat global.
