A vehicle axle driven generator assembly (10) for supplying electrical power to electrically operable vehicle brakes, the generator having a magnetic field producing rotor (30) and a stator with conductors (34a) in the magnetic field. The rotor has its axis of rotation coaxial with the axis of rotation of the axle (11) and is rotated by a drive shaft which is either secured to the end of the axle or is loosely coupled to the end of the axle. The rotor and the stator are encircled by a housing (36) to which the stator is secured and the housing is restrained with respect to rotation by either a link (69) acting between the housing and a fixed portion of the vehicle or by securing the housing to the fixed portion.

Cette invention concerne un système générateur (10) qui est actionné par le moyeu d'un véhicule, et qui permet de fournir de l'électricité aux freins à actionnement électrique du véhicule. Ce générateur comprend un rotor (30) qui crée un champ magnétique, ainsi qu'un stator qui comporte des conducteurs (34a) situés dans ledit champ magnétique. L'axe de rotation du rotor est coaxial à l'axe de rotation du moyeu (11). Le rotor est entraîné en rotation par un arbre qui est soit fixé à l'extrémité du moyeu, soit couplé de manière relâchée à ladite extrémité du moyeu. Le rotor et le stator sont entourés d'une enceinte (36) à laquelle le stator est fixé. On empêche l'enceinte d'entrer en rotation grâce à une liaison (69) qui agit entre elle et une partie fixe du véhicule, ou en la fixant à ladite partie fixe.
