Genomic and cDNA sequences and plant expression vectors encoding for an eukaryotic AHAS small subunit protein are disclosed. The DNA sequences and vectors are used to transform plants to produce transgenic plants which possess elevated levels of tolerance or resistance to herbicides, such as imidazolinones.

L'invention concerne des séquences génomiques et des séquences d'ADNc, ainsi que des vecteurs d'expression de plantes codant pour une protéine de petite sous-unité eucaryote AHAS. On utilise ces séquences d'ADN et ces vecteurs afin de transformer des plantes pour produire des plantes transgéniques possédant des niveaux élevés de tolérance ou de résistance aux herbicides, tels que les imidazolinones.
