Plant growth and plant growth habit can be controlled without the application of exogenous plant hormones or hormone mimetics using the nucleic acid sequences and methods provided. UDP-Glucose: Indol-3-ylacetyl-glucosyl transferase (IAGlu Transferase) amino acid sequence and nucleic acid coding sequences for this enzyme, specifically exemplified for Zea mays, are provided. Nucleic acid constructs directing the expression of IAGlu Transferase and the expression of antisense RNA specific therefor allows the control of growth habit and plant size in transgenic plants containing such nucleic acid constructs.
On peut réguler la croissance végétale et les habitudes de croissance des végétaux sans appliquer d'hormones végétales exogènes ou des analogues d'hormones en utilisant les séquences d'acides nucléiques et les procédés selon l'invention. L'invention concerne une séquence d'acides aminés UDP-Glucose: Indol-3-ylacétyl-glucosyl transférase (IaGlu Transférase) et des séquences codant l'acide nucléique pour cette enzyme, spécifiquement présentée pour Zea mays. Des constructions d'acide nucléique dirigeant l'expression d'IAGlu transférase et l'expression de l'ARN antisens spécifique à celle-ci permet de réguler les habitudes de croissance et la taille de végétaux transgéniques contenant lesdites constructions d'acide nucléique.
