ABSTRACT The invention relates to genetically engineered human acetylcholinesterase (AChE). The invention provides for a DNA sequence encoding for the complete human AChE. The invention further relates to pharmaceutical compositions comprising AChE or biologically active essential fragments thereof for treatment and prophylaxis of organophosphorous compounds poisoning. In a further aspect the invention relates to human cholinesterases probes which may be employed for diagnosing progressing ovarian carcinomas and hemocytopoistic disorders. Methods of diagnosing and treating such tumors and hemocytopoietic disorders are also envisaged.
