A nucleic acid with which expression of a polypeptide having interleukin-16 activity can be achieved or regulated in a prokaryotic or eukaryotic host cell, wherein in the region coding for the said polypeptide said nucleic acid (a) corresponds to the DNA sequence SEQ ID NO:1 or its complementary strand; (b) hybridizes under stringent conditions with the DNA of sequence SEQ ID NO:1; (c) or is a nucleic acid sequence which, if there was no degeneracy of the genetic code, would hybridize under stringent conditions with the nucleic acid sequences defined by (a) and (b); (d) and, if it codes for a polypeptide having interleukin-16 activity, has a length of at least 1179 coding nucleotides, is suitable as genomic DNA for the recombinant production of IL- 16 in eukaryotic host cells.
On décrit un acide nucléique permettant d'effectuer ou de réguler l'expression d'un polypeptide possédant une activité d'interleukine-16, dans une cellule hôte procaryote ou eucaryote, et qui est caractérisé en ce que, dans la région codant pour ce polypeptide, cet acide nucléique: a) correspond à la séquence d'ADN SEQ ID NO:1 ou au brin complémentaire de cet ADN; b) s'hybride sous des conditions strictes avec l'ADN de la séquence SEQ ID NO:1; c) ou est une séquence d'acide nucléique, laquelle, s'il n'y a pas de dégénérescence du code génétique, peut s'hybrider sous des conditions strictes avec les séquences d'acide nucléique définies en a) et b); et d) possède, s'il code pour un polypeptide possédant une activité d'interleukine-16, une longueur d'au moins 1179 nucléotides codants, et convient en tant qu'ADN génomique pour la production recombinée d'IL-16 dans des cellules hôtes eucaryotes.
