Administering a wireless telecommunication switching system in terms of geographical sub-areas. When a wireless unit is inserted into a geographical sub-area, it inherits the attributes of that sub-area with respect to basic operations and features. The wireless units are wireless base stations, wireless handsets, or both. In addition, when basic operation or feature parameters are changed for a particular geographical area, the wireless base stations and wireless handsets operating within that geographical area automatically inherit the new attributes of the geographical area; hence, the parameters for the basic operations and features.
