The invention, herein referred to as a germ catcher, is a functional and effective health aid that will enable people of all ages to reduce the spread of diseases caused by viruses and germs. Each germ catcher consists of a "catcher", manufactured in various designs and materials, and an adjustable arm or wrist "band" to which it is attached. When coughed or sneezed into, the catcher absorbs and retains the air borne secretions containing the viruses and germs, and can later be detached, washed and reused. Germ catchers can be worn over street clothing or attached to uniforms or hospital gowns, and may be totally disposable or sprayed with antiseptic for additional protection. Germ catchers will be especially effective in hospitals, day cares, schools and homes, but will also provide a visible reminder to everyone that reducing the severity of epidemics is as simple as coughing into the germ catcher.
